01When a deep clean makes sense
A property can look tidy while still needing detailed cleaning. Grease around a cooking area, dust on less-used surfaces and dirt in corners can call for a different scope from everyday dusting and mopping. Deep cleaning is also worth discussing when a space has been empty, is being prepared for use or has not had detailed attention for some time.
Tell us why you are arranging the clean. Preparing an occupied family home is different from working in an empty apartment before a handover. A business may need selected rooms completed around its operating hours. The priorities, access and condition help determine the work, rather than the number of bedrooms alone.
02Build a room-by-room scope
Start with kitchens, bathrooms, living areas and bedrooms, then identify the surfaces or fixtures needing extra attention. Point out visible build-up and areas you cannot easily reach. If you want cupboard interiors, appliance interiors, windows or furniture included, list them specifically so they can be assessed and quoted.
Deep cleaning should not be assumed to include every specialist task. Upholstery, carpets, exterior high-level work, heavy-item movement and post-construction residue may need separate arrangements. The quotation should explain which tasks are included and which need further review before the appointment.
03What changes the quotation?
The size of the property, its condition and the amount of furniture all affect access and time. Mention whether belongings remain in cupboards, whether rooms can be cleared and whether any surfaces have special care requirements. Include the number of bathrooms and any additional spaces such as balconies or storage rooms.
For an office or restaurant, describe the usable work window and the rooms that must stay operational. If several services are needed, request one clearly itemised scope so the team can plan the sequence. A quote based on accurate property details is more useful than a starting price that leaves the work undefined.
04Before the team arrives
Confirm access, parking or loading arrangements and any building permission required. Identify fragile items, valuables and surfaces with manufacturer care instructions. Agree which belongings you will put away and whether any furniture needs moving; do not assume large or fixed items can be moved as part of a normal visit.
Make sure the person giving access understands the agreed priorities. Share any change in the property’s condition or availability before the appointment. This is particularly useful when a handover date, maintenance visit or other contractor affects the cleaning schedule.
05Review the work and aftercare
Use the agreed room list to review the completed work. Ask about any areas that could not be accessed or marks that could not be addressed within the scope. If carpets or upholstery were added, obtain the relevant drying and use instructions before putting the space back into use.
Cleaning cannot reverse every surface defect or stain. Discolouration, wear and damage may require repair or another specialist assessment. Describe these concerns during the enquiry so expectations can be discussed before a booking is made.
