Understand where activity is occurring

Rodent concerns often involve spaces that are not part of the everyday cleaning route. Describe activity around storerooms, service cupboards, ceilings or waste areas, and say whether signs are inside or outside the property. Include the times when sounds or sightings occur and whether the affected space connects to neighbouring units or shared facilities.

For restaurants, shops and offices, explain how stock, deliveries and waste are managed and when the premises can be accessed. A site contact who knows the layout can help identify locked rooms or concealed service areas. The purpose is to define the accessible work, not simply to quote for the size of the building.

Separate control work from building repairs

An assessment may identify openings or property conditions that need attention. Agree which control measures are included and whether repairs, waste removal or cleaning require a separate quotation. Where the building manager controls common areas, ask who will arrange the necessary access or repairs.
